123 Days - 141 Poems - 18 posts (Poem 59)

Dear Readers,

the poem of the day is inspired by a series of events throughout the day that made me realise how much joy there is in being content for what we have. It is almost like celebrating again and again these words "Give us this day our daily bread..."

In planning for tomorrow, it is also great to be thankful for what we have today.

Countdown: 123 Days - 141 Poems - 18 Posts.

The pick of the week is the Poem - "Make Noise (129 - 147 -19)"

Stay tuned...

Poem 53: Make Noise (Weekly Post #5)

Make Noise

Christ cannot be contained
neither can He be detained
The Heart of the Gospel here
is wider as we all gather

Make Noise...
Christ is not limited at all
The confines of the church fall
we are the transfigured church
proclaiming Christ outside church

Make Noise...
The Old and the young together
rejoicing in the Holy Trinity forever
Marginalized by known wealthy nations
causing intensified troubles frictions

Make Noise
You inspired Pope Francis
Preaching to us like Saint Francis
Your love reflected in actions
All disappear every tension

Make Noise
Faith in Christ must make noise
We will not be shy yet poised
You inspired your vicar Pope Francis
Loving us like Saint Francis

124 Days - 142 Poems - 19 Posts (Poem 58)

Dear Readers,

Today's Poem is inspired by something that has been puzzling me for a while. The more it puzzles me, the more my eyes open, and the more I am aware of how unaware we are of it.  Maybe I mentioned this before but my favorite verse in the
Scriptures is Luke 2:19 "As for Mary, she treasured all these things and pondered them in her heart". Every January 1st, I eagerly look forward to hear these words repeated in the Gospel.

Why am I mentioning it? I had often seen pondering as reflecting, digesting situations like Queen Esther before speaking up. I often believe that there is power in a woman and a man who seek to understand before reacting. We may not always be successful, but it is worth the try.

Nowadays, the more I have become allergic to gossiping, the more my eyes open. The more they open the more I am allergic to gossiping, and the more I have come to comprehend another angle of Luke 2:19, and why there is so much about the tongue in the Old Testament - we must strive to not have a loose tongue - whether men and/or women.

It is incredible how much is done with the tongue - I have always believed that it is the one member of the body who commits crimes for which it never goes to jail.

The tongue is powerful - use it to bless yourself and others. Stay away from wishing yourself ill or to be more direct from cursing yourself and/or others.

I am still recovering from this weekend's retreat but will surely post the poem picked this week by a Blessed soul.

125 Days - 143 Poems - 19 Posts (54, 55, 56, 57)

Dear Readers,

it is great to be back.  It has been quite a weekend spiritually I must say as every day was impactful. Our diocese organized a World Youth Day @ home for all those who could not make it to Brazil this year. Our Lady I must say was very present in this World Youth Day whether at home, in our diocese or in across the continent.

Poem 54: Just like in Brazil where young people enacted the Via Crucis, among the young people who travelled from other cities such as BC, NWT, Lethbridge, Red Deer, etc... to our diocese but a city different from mine; the young people from Edmonton enacted the Via Crucis. What a moment to live the passion of Christ and put Him on. That evening I dropped a HAIKU on the stations of the Cross.

Poem 55: The next day we had different bishops and priests come forth and teach us about the faith, and the choice was ours to choose and go and listen to whom we were compelled to go to. Other bishops led the morning mass, and the Vigil in the evening was also led by another bishop. O what a day. I must admit that in the midst of it all, I found a moment to retract myself before the Blessed Sacrament - our Lord who made Himself available to us 24 / 7. And there I was able to write.

Poem 55: is actually inspired by the speech of Pope Francis on Elders and the opportunity we had as pilgrims to stay in different families in the city where it was planned. I had the privilege to actually stay with an older Catholic couple who did share wisdom their wisdom with me over that weekend. Countdown: 127-145-19

Poem 56: is inspired by the Gospel that was read on the morning of July 27, 2013 there on God permitting the Wheat and the Weeds to grow together. Countdown: 127-144-19

Poem 57: My last poem was tonight. Indeed I did not write yesterday. Tonight's poem sprang from reflections, experiences over the weekend that led to ponder on the beauty of OBEDIENCE - A vow we are all called to make like our Lady and Christ should we desire the fullness of Christian life. Many became saints because of their obedience. Many died because of their obedience. Obedience, as mentioned by St Ignatius, is the safest guide and most faithful interpreter of the Divine Will.

129 Days - 147 Poems - 19 Posts (Poem 53)

Dear Readers,

today's poem is inspired by our Father in the Lord, Pope Francis, to the young Argentinians in the large Cathedral of St Sebastian. It was a short speech, yet very empowering in making all of us realize that the two groups that are marginalized in society today are the young people and the elders. I liked when he asked that we shake the church, that to believe in Christ is to make noise ... Beautiful, real and deep.

Address to Young Argentinians

Today as well, he visited the slums of Varginha , empowering words spoken to the families living there, and finally later on, he was welcomed by the young people at Copacaban where he also addressed us. I must confess that you will not read from me over the next three for I myself will partake in the rest of the pilgrimage from tomorrow on in our city. Permit me to immerse myself fully as well that I may update you on Monday again on the riches gained, and the mortifications offered.

Thank You.

130 Days - 148 poems - 19 Posts (Poem 51, 52)

Dear Readers,

what a week for me, as we progress my attention, my mind and my soul are entirely in communion with my brethren in Brazil for World Youth Day. See, the concept of pilgrimage has disappeared quite a bit nowadays! Yet it is still very much alive and it is a deepening experience for who experiences it. Once tasted, you would rather sacrifice any other vacation and save for pilgrimages alone whenever God permits. You come to realise your every trip is a pilgrimage where God works even family gatherings, because you pay more attention to how God is moving. Bl. Pope John Paul II used to say that his every trip was a pilgrimage. We are pilgrims on this earth, and at times, we forget that we are to live as such.
Few years ago in Madrid, I met a couple that has 10 kids. The oldest was 16 years of age, and the youngest in the arms of the mother. They had arrived with all ten kids with the help of divine providence. They shared with me how when they were still singles, their love for World Youth Days drew them closer, and during their courtship they kept going whenever God permitted together.
Now after getting married, they had promised each other to trust that Our Good Lord would always provide for them to carry on that tradition with their children, just as Mary and Joseph annually took Jesus on a pilgrimage.
They had a very limited budget that year, and kept asking for the intercession of our Blessed Mother to make a way. Usually WYD packages go pretty fast along with accomodations, and etc... They were regularly checking trusting that if she wanted them to take the kids this year again to deepen their knowledge of the Faith - she would make a way.
A week before World Youth Day in Spain, the plane tickets dropped radically, so radically that; it was within their budget, but even lower than what they had set for budget.  Upon arriving in Madrid, Spain - there were no more accomodations, when someone who had just purchased a house there and was among those giving pilgrims their back packs said: 'Why don't you come stay at my house for the week?' I will not be there for the week.

Such is the testimony that I just shared with you in short. I am let you partake in this because the two poems of today are inspired of Pope Francis' Homily at the National Shrine of our Lady of Conception of Aparecida today, and by the reminder of the story of this family I was blessed to meet in Madrid. Indeed God can surprise us if we allow ourselves to be open - such is the beauty of being a pilgrim, yet a challenge at times. We wonder how many blessings do we throw away at times.

131 Days - 150 Poems - 19 Posts (Poem 50)

Dear Readers,

Today's poem is inspired by the Homily of Archbishop Orani Joao Tempesta retransmitted live on EWTN and transcribed already by Salt and Light Television. Delivered at the Opening Mass this evening on Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro, July 23, 2013. Every baptized person is a missionary, but before we do so - we must recognize that the Lord is speaking to us and answer like Samuel "Speak Lord your servant is listening."

 Homily of Archbishop  Tempesta

Throughout these days of the 28th World Youth Day being held in Rio de Janeiro,Brazil, I will be inspired of it quite a bit because I will be following it thoroughly. Though my body is here, my soul is in communion with the thousands who are witnessing the Good News.

Poem 39: Eukaristos (Weekly Post #4)

        Eukaristos

        I am grateful
Eukaristos, Thanksgiving
    The source of life

     Your Body, Blood
 We eat to Live forever
      All consecrated

       What a gift to us
Humbled to die. Humble me.
    The Eucharist, Love.

133 Days - 152 Poems - 20 Posts (Poems 43, 44, 45, 46, 47, 48)

Hello Readers,

here is my update of the last two days...

July 19, 2013
Poem 43 was inspired by the upcoming preparation for World Youth Day in Rio de Janeiro in Brazil, and the preparations for the World Youth Day at Home that Western Canada, Alberta, Calgary is hosting for all those
who are not able to attend World Youth Day in Rio de Janeiro this year. I found myself reminiscing over the
blessings I have had to attend quite a few. It's a Haiku poem. Countdown: 135 - 157- 20

Poem 44 was inspired by God's Love when we surrender for Him, and how many things we have attached ourselves too that are no good for us. I witness the grace of having our good Lord clean me today. Today made me realise that deliverance does not happen without surrender. It's a Haiku poem. Countdown 135 - 156 -20

Poem 45 was inspired by the fact that to put on Christ is walk new every day; its like the renewal of our baptismal vows again and again. It is like a summer knocking at our doors with a fresh wind of hope. It's a Haiku poem. Countdown 135 -155 - 20

July  20, 2013

Poem 46 was inspired by the wisdom I gained from the bus driver today. It made me realise that life is a ride, and there is so much to learn; we choose what ride it will be - a wise ride or a wild ride. Countdown: 134 - 154 -20

July 21, 2013
Today's poems 47 (133-153-20) and 48 (133-152-20) are again inspired by World Youth Day, but more specifically by the one who started it Pope John Paul II - I found myself pondering on some of his words to young people, of the impact that such gathering has in our life when we simply open ourselves to partake in it. Yet I can sense that I have within me to write more tonight; if I do so, I will update you tomorrow evening.

Stay tuned as the poem of that was picked gets posted.

136 Days - 158 Poems - 20 Posts (Poem 42)

Dear Readers,

Today's poem springs from the passage of Luke 9:49-50 where a man is not with the Apostles yet he is using the name of Jesus, and what a beautiful reply from our Lord. It is one of my favorite passages. I am happy that it was the word that I got to meditate on, and I am as well thrilled that the Holy Spirit inspired me to write on it; the name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus.

137 Days - 159 Poems - 20 Posts (Poem 41)

Dear Readers,

today's poem is inspired by a reflection I had all day long on Mary's Fiat. I pondered on something that I read from a priest called Fr.Gaitley. According to him, even Mary was prepared to walk by faith for the role that Jesus wanted her to take on as our spiritual mother.

I thought it would make sense, complete sense, but then I pondered about her and wrote about how we surrender to God's will like her. Where are we in our Fiat toward God, the Holy Trinity? the One God in Three persons?

138 Days - 160 poems - 20 Posts (Poem 40)

Dear Readers,

Today's poem is inspired by how much Christ has enriched His bride the Church,

and how priviledged I am to be her daughter, a witness of the faith entrusted to me

by the Apostles. I believe I am already experiencing the Spirit of World Youth Day in

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil...

Poem 31: The Body of Christ (Weekly Post #3)

       The Body of Christ
Humbled to death He is Lord
     Distant lands Oneness

picked on Sunday, July 14, 2013 by who I approached to select a number.)

139 Days - 161 Poems - 21 posts (Poems 34 to 39)

Dear readers,

it been few days. Though I have missed updating you, I have faithfully done my best to keep writing.
It has not been easy, but is anything ever easy. In between recovering and fulfilling both my societal
duties and that of our home, inspiration did not lack.

So let me update you from where we last left of - being a people pleaser instead of pleasing the Almighty first.

July 11, 2013
  • Poem 34 was inspired by the gift I have through baptism of being the daughter of the wealthiest King that has ever lived. 143 - 166 - 21
  • Poem 35 was inspired by conversations that were being held on vocations. 143 -165 -21

July 12, 2013
  •  Poem 36 was inspired by courageous acts I witnessed around me and how our life can radiate when we walk into what God has in store for us. 142 - 164 - 21

July 13, 2013
  •   Poem 37 was inspired by a priceless moment experienced at a vigil. Today, we celebrated as well the Feast of Mother Mary under her title of Rosa Mystica, the mother of the religious. See the devotion to our Lady under this title is very much popular in West Africa and in South Asia. Today, I ponder on the Crown she gives us her beloved if we wish to receive it. 141 - 163 - 21

July 14, 2013
  • Poem 38 was inspired by Our Lady. See, I have been reflecting, and studying the Immaculate Conception - the writings of St Kolbe awhile ago prompted me to start reading the Encyclical Pope Pius X wrote on the Immaculate Conception - Ad Diem Illum Laetissimum.  I am not done reading it, but what I read so far sparked me to pen. 140-162 -21

July 15, 2013
  • Poem 39 is a short poem on the Eucharist. I was reflecting on the privilege of the Eucharist. What a gift of Life itself.

144 Days - 167 Poems - 21 Posts (Poem 33)

Hello my Readers,

Tonight's poem is inspired about what I discovered of myself today.
There is a phrase that I dread much, and from time to time it comes
haunting, but today I discovered a new angle of it; People -Pleaser!

Over the past month and half, I had to make few choices of letting
so many things that I had embraced; tonight I discovered while talking
it through that at times to embrace too much can also be a sign of
being a people-pleaser. Shocker!!!

I am indeed pleased I released myself of so many responsilibities, and
chose to focus on doing few things well. A professor of mine once
said: "There are times in life we are so busy serving God everywhere
that we forget to serve him with the very things He has entrusted us with".
So tonight's poem is a self acknowledgement, concise, haiku styled on
a few layers, repetitive.I am happy to be dedicating time to poetry again ...

Tonight I look at myself through the mirror of my writings, and
refuse to excuse myself.

Countdown: 144 Days -167 poems- 21 Weeks

I must now go and rest, as I am still recovering.

Good night and thank you

Poem 23 - No end for the greatest ( Weekly Post #2)

No end for the greatest

Like a radio turned on, 1Corinthians 13:8a repeats
As if I had never ever heard it read it or recited it

Like a radio who’s remote is broken, I am convicted
Of a new understanding of Biblical Love True Love

Like a radio compelling you to call in, I am inspired
To pen, to inscribe for us the hidden knowledge of

Love never comes to an end
Is this true? What Love? How?
In a century where more marriages
Rooted in Christ are falling apart

Love, are you really for ever?
Then who are you that we may
Discover embrace you anew
I ponder from the depths of me

Like a radio repeating what was spread, I am playing
here the words of the apostle Paul and loudly reflecting

Love never comes to an end

If Love never comes to an end
No wonder Love must struggle to establish
then Love is more than emotional sparkles

If Love never comes to an end
Aren’t Love and the weather twins
The weather never comes to an end

If Love never comes to an end
In Love then, there is no cul-de-sac
But surely Love has seasons

And St Paul wrote ‘Love never comes to an end’
Then indeed Love never comes to an end
For Love is the greatest

If Love never comes to an end
Truly Love is a divine a person
Love is the Heavenly Father

If Love never comes to an end
Then Love is truth and isn’t Truth a person
Then Love is a person, Jesus Christ

If Love never comes to an end
Then Love is and will always be eternal for
Love proceeds from the Father Eternal and the Son

And St Paul preached ‘Love never comes to an end’
Then Divine Love is the core of a Covenant Marriage
For Love is the greatest

If Love never comes to an end
Though Day and Night may shift
For Love will dwell here forever

And St Paul said: ‘Love never comes to an end’
Indeed Love never comes to an end.

Hello Readers,

Today's poem is inspired by today's gospel reading in Luke, and the beauty that
we have Sundays as Christians for our families to deepen our bonding.

Today's poem is inspired by our Spiritual Father in the Lord; Pope Francis.

Today's poem is inspired by a couple that was blessed at Church today as they
were celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary; As they renewed their vows,

I witness something I had never seen in my life before, tears were rolling down
the eyes of the HUSBAND...

My dear readers,

Yesterday although an unusual day filled with  new experiences
was so overwhelming that writing did not happen. For the first
time since the beginning of this challenge, I missed a day.

----Today, I was inspired by two themes;
  1. Silence because often times it unveils unheard riches
  2. Sickness because such has been my state for the past two days.

What inspired me today is a theme that kept repeating itself again
and again.

Children are the best example of attachment and detachment. So one poem

We are often called to renounce the world, our wealth,
ourselves in many  ways. Conversations seemed to evolve around that.  (Poem 26)

151 Days - 177 Poems - 22 Posts (Poem 24)

Hello out there,

Writing today was a challenge, not because I had no idea, but instead because there were so many ideas that I struggled to organize them. I had to step back many times throughout the day, and rip a few pages to start over again tonight.

So at last I paused, and prayed for coherence and a flow in my thoughts. Prayer always works even when we don't see at times the results.

It is as if God was not through with me with the passages I meditated on yesterday, so these were the same passages that were the focus of my day.

1 Cor 13:1-9 and Luke 17: 1-4.

Today, the Holy Spirit led in a completely different tangent - Forgiveness. It is beautiful as the poem embeds harmoniously both passages together...

Hello Readers, Today's poem was inspired by one of the two gospel passages I was meditating on this morning: Luke 17:1-10 and 1 Cor 13:1-9 As I left for the day, inspiration seemed to come for the passage in Luke, but by late afternoon, the passage of Corinthians had won its way in me. Though I favor it much, I would not have expected tmy writings to go that way. There is a specific verse this time that captured my attention though I quoted and pondered numerous times on it. I found myself reflecting about it in an unsual way and I feel privileged to deepen in a new way that at the heart of that love is the Lover of our souls who leads us love - Christ :-) Countdown: 152 Days - 177 Poems - 22 Weeks/Posts
